The Downeast Maine Cranberry Growing Region
The circle represents the heart of the Downeast Maine cranberry growing region.

In the early 1900's Maine had a small commercial cranberry industry. After many years of inactivity, the industry was reborn around 1989 with encouragement from cranberry processors. During the past decade, 27 farms have developed approximately 215 acres of cranberries. Most of these bogs are located in Downeast Maine in Washington County.

During the fall, cranberry bogs are deep red in color and most bogs are harvested in Maine during the first few weeks of October.

Our bogs are found on Hinckley Point Road and Route 1 in Dennysville, halfway between Machias and Calais.
